I can see the difference between a Luftwaffe and American pilot any day, just as I can see the difference of a Ju-88 dropping bombs on a convoy of cargo vessels from American DIVE-bombers too... They´re not even attempting to put in the right footage, my goodness you´re better off with that 70s movie about Midway with Charlton Heston for history lessons.

Ranillon prieš 8 mėnesius The story of the Battle of Midway that this gives is badly out-of-date, so much so that unless this documentary if over twenty years old there is no excuse for it getting the battle so wrong. It repeats the now debunked story that the Japanese were on the cusp of launching a great attack when the American dive bombers came in. That is a fable concocted by Mitsuo Fuchida when he talked with US historians after the war that was designed to make the Japanese look as good as possible while staying within the well known boundaries of the event. After his death Fuchida was revealed as a habitual liar who added a whole host of falsehoods to his recollection of the war that were always meant to make the Japanese and himself look better. While he had been denounced as a fraud by the late 70s in Japan, lack of easy access to Japanese records (which were of course in Japanese) and an unquestioned acceptance of Fuchida's original fable meant that it took until the early 00s for historians on this side of the Pacific to figure out how they had been duped.

What I really want is footage of 2 men playing the classic Milton Bradley game "Battleship", on a fine antique maple coffee table, but I realize this is a big ask. Just the thought of being able to witness the moment when the one player screams at the other, "You sank my Battleship" gives me chicken skin running all through my loins.

prieš 1 metus Already, this episode has integrity problems. Japan was NOT up to the task of taking on the USA and none other than Isoroku Yamamoto himself admitted that fact. He said that Japan could have free reign for a few years in the Pacific but would not overcome US power. As he knew it was upon his shoulders to achieve what he could he went about it as efficiently as was possible. But US industrial and manpower might would smother Japanese Empire aspirations in a shorter time than it took Japan to subdue a much weaker China, which never happened despite Japan's advantages. Not only did the US devour Japanese gains in island chunks and charbroil the island nation, it did so while fighting the German armed forces and supplied the Allied powers (including Soviet Russia) with arms and foodstuffs. The Japanese never had a chance at beating the US....not in the slightest.

It also weakened and tired out the German forces, which was an additional bonus. But no: there was no reason for the overwhelmingly superior forces of the Red Army to "rest". That simply isn't the case. He just preferred the Germans to do his dirty work for him.
